Ableton Project Time Calculator (how long have I actly wrked

Just think their should be a calculator or somewhere within a project that tells you how long you actually spent. i mean like active work spent on a project. Cuz a song may take you 3 days when in reality you worked on it for actually 5 hours out of those 3 days, so whats the actual time spent. unless you program your synths and drums in your head and arrange it on paper your not working when your away from Live.

ideas/comments...?

It'd be an interesting tool. I'd love to see a breakdown of where we spend most of our time (noodling in session? Tweaking device chains? Piano roll?). I'm sure it'd be an eye-opener for a few of us. :)

I already see the outcome:
The tracks you worked not so mch time on, are better :-D

My English is not perfect, I know... Sorry about that.

Greetings from Germany!

P.S. to wishlist forum users: Please search for former requests. Otherwise they will be splitted into many small ones and we are loosing impact!!!

Why not just count the number of times you flipped the egg timer whilst working on the project?

You would just need to understand and post-process the .log files. A lot of information is in there.

I've never poked through those, is there any documentation anywhere about what all they contain?

Bumping this because Ableton needs to make this happen.

Can I also bump this idea. It's a great one and I definitely need it. I'll look into programming it into Max for Live as that is definitely possible.

A very belated bump - but apparently 6-9 years later, this still doesn't exist?? For shame! :<

Seems you could just save one of those timers to your Default. So whenever you start a new project, there is a timer for it. I think if you save variations though, you might hit a few snags, as two versions would continue from the same time point, but each have an amount of time.... and if you don't know that time point, you can't subtract that from the variation.

Also not sure how a timer would handle moments when you're not at the computer and it goes idle and falls asleep, only for you to return the next day.
